Hempel's Thinner 08080 is a thinner blended to give the best results with regard to brushability and spray properties. Apart from a few special situations, thinning is not necessary as paints are designed to be applied out of the can after thorough mixing. However, if the paint is to be applied in a low film thickness (e.g., as a "sealer coat") or if it has become too thick (e.g., in cold weather), the indicated Hempel's Thinner(s) on the product data sheet may be added to achieve a consistency most suitable for application. As a general rule, thinning should be kept to a minimum as excessive thinning can negatively affect the quality of the paint work. In high temperatures, thinning may be necessary even beyond the limits mentioned in the data sheets to avoid dry-spray and poor film formation. It can also be used as a cleaner for pumps and tools after and before painting.
